If anyone wishes to volunteer at Hammocks MS:
- they must register through their respective portals (Employees through the Employee Portal, Parents go through the Parent or Community Portal, Community folks go through the Community Portal), click on Volunteer and complete the online application or refresh their status (remember that fingerprinting is only good for five years for parents and community volunteers); select Hammocks Middle School as the place they wish to volunteer (the school # is 6221).
- Level I does not require fingerprinting – it is highly suggested that parents and community volunteers select this Level
- Level II requires fingerprinting and they need to follow the directions at the end of the application and look at any emails they will be sent; faculty members are automatically Level II, because of fingerprinting an background clearance.
- Once they have completed the application, they will be emailed an update of the status of their application or they can check at the school’s security desk of the school with their picture ID through the Raptor system (office personnel does not have access to check on that system).
- If they have issues with any of these steps or are not approved in a timely manner, they should call the volunteer office to find out the status of their application – 305-995-2995
- Once they are approved, they need to submit a copy of their current FL license or FL ID or High School Picture ID, with their cell # and MDCPS Volunteer #, and the name of the person they will be volunteering for written on that copy (that person will notify you when it is time to start volunteering), to the main office and sign in and out of the Volunteer Notebook in the main office each time they are at HMS.
